MACA promotes the framework for multiple disciplines involved with serving children that have been affected by sexual and physical violence. Wherever possible, MACA provides support, assistance, and resources so that our Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) can focus on working directly with children.
By fostering collaboration and communication amongst agencies, MACA helps multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) ease children’s trauma by reducing a child’s need to “tell their story” repeatedly. These teams include:
- Department of Children and Families workers
- Medical professionals
- Mental health professionals
- Police officers
- Prosecutors
- Victim advocates
MACA and its CACs proactively assure that children and families are linked to medical, mental health, victim advocacy, and other services as determined on a case-by-case basis.
